33% Team: Reaching
33% by 2012
The national recycling rate is 32.5% (EPA,
2006). Here in New Mexico we are at 11% as of 2007 (NMED,
2008). The NMRC has chosen a goal of reaching a 33%
recycling rate by 2012 in order to catch up with the rest of
our nation. We need your help to accomplish this. NMRC is
encouraging individuals, communities, businesses and
organizations to make the 33% by 2012 commitment. .....................................................................................
How Can You Join the Team Effort?
- Individuals: Work with community
recycling champions to
expand or start a recycling program.

Organizations: Make the 33% commitment by adopting a
formal resolution.

- Reach out to your community,
school, business or colleagues during November's NM
Recycling Awareness Month.

- Set the example with informed
purchasing, reducing your waste in the first place,
buying recycled and carrying your shopping bags.

- Volunteer: Use the Recycling
Directory to locate your local recycling coordinator and let them know you want to help make a
difference.
