Keeping Construction
Material Out of the Waste Stream
*English Bird, NM Recycling Coalition; Amy Baumann,
greenGoat; Douglas Vetter,,Sandia National Laboratories |
With a third of our state's waste
stream coming from construction projects, keeping it out
of the landfill could have huge implications for
landfill space conservation. Amy Baumann from
Massachusetts, details successful strategies from back
East, where construction recycling has become the norm.
Doug Vetter brings tactics used at Sandia Labs on both
their deconstruction and new construction projects. |

collection and chipping programs. Hear about a business
that uses construction wood waste to create wood stove
pellets. Santo Domingo has a U.S. Forest Service grant

apply to their farm. And Roger Allen from Ruidoso will
get into working with local schools to make the move to
biodegradable lunch supplies and food scraps collection.
